FMT LETTER: From Ravinder Singh, via e-mail
Dear Professor,
You have often spoken about race and religion. As a learned, enlightened and wise person, could you please enlighten the world with the wisdom of your thoughts on the following:
1 Why were you born a Chinese and not a Malay Muslim in the first place if you were destined to be a Muslim and a Malay in the end?
2 Why is it that under our skins we are all the same whether our outer layers are black, brown or yellow?
3 Why did Allah create non-Muslims if he has pre-determined that their after lives shall be condemned to hell? Is He such a cruel being?
4 If the same Allah did not create the non-Muslims, who created them?
5 How many creators of the Heavens and the Earth are there?
6 If there are other Gods besides Allah, how is it they do not fight and destroy each other’s creations?
7 If all creatures on the earth are the creation of one and the same Allah (or God, or by whatever name He is called), how is it that His love for all his creations is not the same, i.e. how come he only loves those who profess a certain religion and not others (pilih kasih)?
8 What came first into this world, ethnicity or religion, the egg or the chicken?
9 Does one’s adoption of a different faith than that into which one is born, change the bone, blood and DNA of the convert?
10 Is the door to heaven open to all Muslims regardless of their Moral values and shut to all non-Muslims regardless of how honest and upright they may be?
