In response to accusation that he had not been giving constructive criticism, Petaling Jaya Utara member of parliament Tony Pua took to task both Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission chairperson Heliliah Mohd Yusof and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Paul Low.

Pua questioned Heliliah's statement that the opposition would never admit a government agency had done a good job.

“Let me declare upfront that I will be the first to praise the Government if the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) and bring to book all who are guilty of misconduct. And this will certainly not be my first time doing so.

"However, I’d like to ask the Chairperson of EAIC if she actually thinks that the Commission has delivered anywhere remotely close to what was promised?” said Pua.

He said despite being given RM7 million annually for the past three years, the EAIC had only one investigating officer as part of a 23-man staff including clerks and drivers.

"The fact that the Government isn’t serious, with only 1 investigating officer today to 'look after' 19 government agencies is proof of the intent for the entire exercise to fail,” he said, adding that commission had only recommended one disciplinary action and two warnings to civil servants to date.

No problem for DAP to use rocket logo in May 5 polls, EC says

I think DAP should not take the matter lightly. Anything can happen in the middle so to prevent futher damage please make fully preparation to avoid any bad circumtances. We use to say as PRECAUTION. Please do note that anything, anything can come accross when the fight has begins.

I am not trying to say that we shouldn't trust EC's statement but until EC confirms with proper documents, we should not take thing for granted. As we know, they would do anything, anything to make sure they win this GE. 
  

The Election Commission (EC) gave an assurance today that the DAP can field its candidates under its rocket logo in the May 5 polls despite the opposition party facing an inquiry by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over its December 2012 internal election.

The societies regulator had sparked a panic attack earlier today after news broke that it refused to recognise the DAP’s central executive committee (CEC) line up.

“Can use their logo because the problem with RoS is not a problem of deregistering the party. The only problem is that RoS did not recognise the CEC,” EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar told The Malaysian Insider over the phone.

“So the DAP leadership needs to meet with RoS whether today or tomorrow to resolve this problem and get an explanation as to which CEC list the RoS recognises,” he added.

Wan Ahmad(picture) also said the election regulator would cross-check the names of candidates running on the DAP’s ticket against the authoritisation letter issued by the party chief to ensure theer would be no hanky-panky.

Nominations for the 222 parliamentary and 505 state seats in the 13th general elections will open this Saturday. Malaysia will vote on May 5.

The RoS had reportedly informed the DAP it does not recognise the party’s CEC elected last December, a move that could dampen its bid to field Election 2013 candidates under its banner.

A letter dated yesterday, purportedly detailing the RoS’s decision, is circulating online, the Malaysiakini news portal reported.

It also reported the DAP leadership to be closeted in an emergency meeting now at the party’s headquarters here.

Aminulrasyid’s kin files RM50m suit against PDRM.

The money can't bring back his life. But the sadnest that the family feels for over past three years ago weren't good enough to clean up all the mess and disappointed that they have felt before. 

All the humiliation towards a young boy who can't even talk and tell the truth just because to defend the government agency WHICH their image is more important than the image of young boy who was been shot to dead 21 bullets over his body just ONLY he has no driving license.

The family can't bear anymore. Whoever have children can't bear this also. Not even me or even the police itself if it happens to their own family. Lets pray for the justice to prevail. Lets hope our adik late of AminulRashid will get his justice one day.   

The family members of Aminulrasyid Amzah filed a RM50 million “unlawful killing” lawsuit against the police and the government today, in a case that could reignite public anger among voters here over how the schoolboy was shot 21 times by police in 2010.

Flanked by incumbent PAS MP Khalid Samad, the family’s decision to sue will provide Pakatan Rakyat (PR) fodder in the campaign for Shah Alam, now a major focus of Election 2013 after Barisan Nasional (BN) named controversial Islamic firebrand Zulkifli Noordin as its candidate there yesterday.

“We are suing for negligence in the discharge of duties, where the police went on a shooting spree,” Aminulrasyid’s family lawyer, N. Surendran, told reporters at the High Court lobby here today.

The High Court here overturned last December the conviction of policeman Corporal Jenain Subi for causing the death of 14-year-old Aminulrasyid in a high-speed car chase in Shah Alam about three years ago.

Aminulrasyid was killed in the early hours of April 26 in 2010, after taking a midnight joyride in a car and allegedly mistaken for a felon on the run by the police.

He had been driving a white Proton Iswara with his best friend and neighbour, 15-year-old Muhammad Azamuddin Omar in the front passenger seat. Their car had crashed into the curb at Jalan Tarian 11/2, Section 11 following a police pursuit.

A public outcry followed as the police sought to defend themselves over the incident as well as dubitable reports of the discovery of a machete in the car driven by Aminulrasyid.

But in September 2011, Jenain had been found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sentenced to five years’ jail after Sessions Court judge Latifah Mohd Tahar ruled that the use of lethal force to stop Aminulrasyid’s car was excessive and uncalled for.

Jenain had admitted to firing 21 bullets from his Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun at Aminulrasyid’s Proton Iswara in an effort to stop the car — which had earlier run a roadblock — but denied trying to kill the teenager.

Aminulrasyid’s mother, Norsiah Mohamad, and sister, Nor Azura Amzah, named Jenain as the first defendant, and listed the Shah Alam OCPD, then-Selangor police chief Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Malaysian government as subsequent defendants in their suit.

BN are persisting in their childish attempts to shut up criticism by attacking this website and also the websites of Radio Free Sarawak and Radio Free Malaysia.

They are also jamming the broadcasts of the two radio stations, but with patchy success. Although the three websites have been hit hard and repeatedly by so-called DDOS (Distributed Denial Of Service) attacks, these attacks are being successfully countered by our systems.

Our web managers have identified attacks being distributed through the United States and elsewhere. Which indicates that a great deal of money and preparation has been put into trying to shut up our voice during what is supposed to be a free and fair, democratic election.

What are they so frightened you will read and hear?

Other independent news providers in Malaysia are also being attacked. The Malaysian Insider and Free Malaysia Today appear to be among the targets, as they are taking similar evasive action. The attacks were entirely expected, because BN has a long record of trying to silence and disable independent media in this fashion, particularly during elections.
 

Under DDOS attack!

Malaysia’s ruling party appears to have no confidence in its ability to withstand any sort of independent scrutiny or criticism, preferring rather to shut it up by illegal and clumsy means, such as this much trumpeted “cyber-warfare”.

We wonder which stories they fear most getting out to electors? Is it the evidence of massive corruption on the part of ministers and their flunkeys, who are seeking re-election?

Is it unflattering analysis of their policies and questions over how such an oil rich country still manages to be largely under-developed and be home to so many poor people, while UMNO party members are buying up half London at the same time?

Or is that they need to silence information channels which might be able to report the conduct of massive election bribes and ballot rigging over the coming period? We suspect that all of these motivations are at play and we suggest that these motives are as transparent to the people of Malaysia as they are to us.
 
Backward political party

BN’s approach to managing elections seems frankly backward. It is possible that giving voters a few ringgit and refusing to let them have any facts about the running of the country was the secret of their electoral success from the 60s to the 90s.

But to continue with the same sad old, corrupted formula into the internet age only shows that while the rest of the world has moved on, UMNO has got stuck in a rut.

It is always the case that parties that lose their way cling on to methods that worked in the past – even though it is clear that most online portals now have the means to resist these silly attacks and then to report on them in a way that names and shames the perpetrators.

Our broadcasts have been reaching the rural population of Sarawak and BN are clearly frightened.

BN are clearly so bewildered and stuck that they will keep on desperately trying to shut up the independent voices of Malaysia, like a feeble old man swatting at a cloud of flies, because they don’t know what else to do.

If they had wits and a clear conscience they would settle down to the debate and answer back the criticisms. They would bring forward their policies and defeat their opponents in a fair discussion, like adult democrats.

But the truth is that BN are without this confidence that they can win the debate. And they don’t have a clear conscience or the ability to deny the overwhelming evidence of corruption by their party for the past 50 years.

Their attacks on their critics are the clearest signal possible that they don’t have the answers and they don’t have the confidence to fight by fair means.

To Pakatan and the other Non-BN parties, that will be facing UMNO in this coming GE, please understand this. Many of us, many of the rakyat, are sacrificing much to work to bring about the regime changes, as we desired. We expect you to do the same. We expect you to do to put the interest of the rakyat before the interest of your respective parties. We do not want to see party squabbling for seats. Understand this, that you get our votes by default not because we love you but because we so despise UMNO BARISAN NASIONAL and the manner in which they have cheated and robbed the rakyat all of these years. Do not take our votes for granted. You have given us promises of reforms. Deliver on those promises. 

Not to forget to all Non-BN candidates that will contest in this GE. DON'T TRY TO LOMPAT after you won the seat. Don't try to dare mess with rakyat votes. We will punish you in whatever manner as soon as you start to mess with us.

Papa Gomo Confirms To Challenge Anwar In Permatang Pauh..

Controversial blogger Papa Gomo is set to take on Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat during the 13th general election, his representative Mohamad Rafi Awang Kechik said Monday.

Mohamad Rafi, the Nadi Rakyat Malaysia president, said Papa Gomo, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, had made the decision to contest as an independent candidate to expose the Opposition leader's alleged wrongdoings to the rakyat.

"After taking the views of many groups and people, I believed that I want to expose all his wrongdoings to his contituency.

"We also want to put an end to his political career," Mohamad Rafi, speaking on behalf of the blogger, told a press conference at the Federal Territories Election Commission office here.

Anwar, on Friday, had confirmed that he will remain in Permatang Pauh in the coming polls.

Anwar also had filed an RM100mil defamation suit against Papa Gomo over a recent sex video allegedly implicating the Opposition Leader last month.

He is going to lose anyway. His money will be wasted. An advice to papa gomo. Keep your money to pay the saman. Please use your brain sometimes..

The police today has confirmed BN supporter Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, who runs the explicit blog Papagomo, was a police officer who was sacked after a criminal conviction.

The statement by the police comes as a response to the discovery that Azri had been still listed as a postal voter despite being no longer a policeman.

“On September 6, 2012, the officer was found guilty and was sentenced. Then a disciplinary committee proceeding was taken against him and this officer was sacked effectively on September 6, 2012,” said police spokesman Mortadza Nazarene.

“Thus, this officer is no longer listed in our record as a postal voter,” he added.

Earlier, Harakahdaily reported that Azri's name is listed as a convict on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's online database showing those guilty of bribery.

According to the entry (see here), Azri, slapped with a RM100 million defamation suit by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, was guilty on two counts of bribery to release Mohd Rahyudi bin Mokhtar, who was found with syringes used for drug abuse, in 2004.

Following that, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli revealed that Azri’s name was registered twice, as normal voter and postal voter, on EC's database.

He was listed as postal voter attached to the Ampang police district under police identity number RF142863, as well as a voter in Wangsa Maju under his MyKad 830121035019.

A day after the revelation, Azri’s record as postal voter was removed by EC.
